This revolutionary treatment also called Micro Needling or Skin Needling uses a disposable device to make thousands of small micro punctures in the skin surface. This process stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely, creating smoother, brighter and healthier, younger-looking skin.
The treatment is recommended for improving the appearance of:
- acne scarring
- fine facial lines and wrinkles
- aged and sun damaged skin
- stretch marks
The practitioner will apply to your skin an anesthetic cream 45 minutes prior to your treatment to numb the treatment area. It will take thereafter a further 30 minutes approximatively, depending on the area treated to roll over the device to the problem area. It will produce thousands of micro needle punctures in the skin. This control damaged to the skin surface is not deep enough to elicit a scarring response, however, it will cause the body to have a milder healing response. New elastin and collagen are then formed. Scarring, lines, wrinkles and pigmentation are then removed and replaced over time with new scar free skin.
Usually a course of 3 to 4 treatments at intervals of about 6 to 8 weeks will be required to achieve optimum results. In some severe case of acne scarring more sessions may be required.
It can take up to six weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following months providing a long lasting enhancement.
The treatment is safe, the punctures in the skin are very fine, leaving the skin effectively intact and reducing the risk of infection. Minor bruising may appear occasionally.
The treatment is relatively painless. The anaesthetic cream is also applied beforehand to reduce any discomfort that may be caused.
There are minimal side effects. The area treated may appear red, like mild sunburn, for a few hours after treatment but will rapidly fade away. The skin may fee warm and tight for a short while following the treatment. This will settle within a few hours and the skin will look normal by the next day. In few cases, it can take up to 48 hours for the redness to fully settle.
After your treatment, the practitioner will apply a serum and a moisturising cream to encourage the repair of the skin. You will have to apply also a total sunblock to protect the skin and provide optimum conditions for the skin to repair itself.
